Rain, rain come again!

The rain we were supposed to be swathed with today is below us, not the ernesto stuff, other stuff that was supposed to wet a whole big band of land across the south (not far, but from west to east with north-ish GA being in the middle of it.)

There are some dark clouds to the south of us that we can see now, radar also shows all the stuff down south, but not really moving UP, but over and up, so it may not “get us” much, maybe, maybe not.

We need the rain.

Ernesto isn’t going to give us anything or much of anything either it seems. Too bad, like I said above, and in a previous post about rain, we need the rain.

I wrote the above a few hours ago, we left before I was done typing, and I just let the post sit.

There are some high clouds to the South of us right now, and they are flashing every so often, and you can see lightening strikes in them sometimes. From what I saw earlier we wouldn’t get anything of moisture except for the humitity of usual-ness, and that’s what has happened thus far. The radar isn’t showing that cloud-heavy-rain stuff below us to be moving towards us, it’s just sitting down there teasing from afar. So be it, we’ll get something eventually, maybe another tropical storm, or just summer thunder storms. We had one the other night, it did pour down hard for a bit, and then lighter rain, then it quit. We might have gotten a bit of rain last night too, we were out and it rained where we were, and it being dark and hot it’s hard to know when we got home if it rained or how much, but I seem to think it did from a few things that it was like this morning out in the yards. Not a lot, just some.

In any case it is useful to get rain of any sort, but MORE is what we need. We are under by around 10, more or less, inches this year now.

Trees and Rain

We’ve left some of our trees to grow without pruning the last few years, so are now starting to prune them. Tonight we did a lot on the maple out front, and now I have so many mosquito bites on my legs. Ichy icky uck. Also the bush there, the pussy willow, it’s so tall and has dead stuff in it galore, really got bad just this year, with the lack of rain, no doubt. That bush I have pruned over the years, only letting it get “bigger” this year, and it didn’t do well. So it’s getting pruned way down.

I did some with the bloodgood japanese maple the other week and it really looks much better now. The other maple, that I started this post with has more to get off, but it’s so lightened, not bottom heavy anymore. It looks much better and it gives us room to improve the ground under it now, where we need to build it up some, and put in perennials.

Our wild black berries are turning into a loverly bramble, but they need to be moved, since they are doing that over our front walkway. It’s a walkway we really don’t use, but still it’s right in front and not really the place for it, but the bramble is wonderful and if I could plop our house down on a few acres I think it would look lovely just as they are. Since we are on a half-acre with other houses around, it’s not as country charm-able to leave it there. :(

Out back the weeping willow tree has had some major trimming done in the last couple of weeks. It had problems due to the children hanging off it last summer, and so some good branches (well, ones that HAD been good before) had to be cut off. It’s suffering from the summer dryness though, and is so thin, much leaf drop the past month and a half, and so it’s quite Autumn looking when one spies that tree.

There is a big storm brewing to the west, and it might come over us, I hope so, and drop that water, we can use the rain, and any rain the Ernesto my see fit to give us too. We really, really, really need it.

Our House A/C is back online

We have had issues with the a/c in our house the past years, and basically went without for a year (very tough) and then put in a couple of window units last year, much better. This year we used those two window units again, and got a smaller one to add to the mix in the “basement” bathroom. That gave us a unit on each floor of the house.

This year though it’s been tougher, we did have some fans that we used to move the a/c around last year, those broke one by one, cheap $10 box fans from Target, that if they go “plunk” on the ground, chances are great that one of the plastic blades will snap off, rendering the fan as an out-of-balance washer load. No thank you to that function, is my response!

So this year the upstairs has suffered –a bit too warm to very much warmer than one prefers, later in the day the rooms getting warmer and warmer. At some point I turned on the house “fan” without a/c … using the window units still for a/c, and just using the house system as a big old “fan” to move air around.

It got hotter and hotter out the other week, so I tried the A/C in the house system, to see if it would kick in (we haven’t had it checked out, it just was troublesome for us, not being a good enough system in this house, and an incident of someone turning the thermostat all the way down caused the system to freeze up when it wasn’t caught, and it was something that we maybe should have called a tech in for, but couldn’t afford it. That was in September a few years back and we did alright without a/c for the rest of the year, it was the NEXT year that it was tough, Spring gets hot and steamy might fast in the South.) — when I turned it on no cool air began coming out of the vents. I went outside, the big box out there was just sitting there, still as a statue internally, but there was a “buzz” sound coming from it inside somewhere.

I then turned it off and on and who knows how long that went on, every so often over a few days. Then I must have just let it stay set to “auto” and 70 degrees, ’cause last week at some point the children started complaining that their hallway bathroom was “Freezing!” and I didn’t check it out that day, I was in a fog bank for some reason. I was working on the window units, trying to turn them just warm enough to do the job economically, in tandem with each other. I found then I was actually turning them up and up and up, feeling a bit more chilled than usual, and it didn’t stop via that upward movement of the Window Unit A/C temps. The next day “the bathroom is freezing!” complaints continued and somewhere that day we figured out, The House A/C is ON! It’s set to “Auto” and it’s running, and it’s working well. Hmmm. It’s cycling on and off, the outside portion spinning just fine, cold air flowing out of the vents.

So we took the window units and turned them all off. All was well. We then took the kitchen window unit out, and the coolness continues along very well, maybe better (now that the window there is completely shut.) Next on the agenda is to take the unit out of our master bedroom, to see if that helps with the “air leakage” probable thing there. I don’t mean it’s a problem we’ve noted, but it’s a probable thing that a window unit installed in a ‘seasonal’ way isn’t going to sit there and seal up the hole. It worked alright when it produced cold air, but it’s not doing well to just sit there now.

Our house originally had french double doors in the kitchen, out to the backyard/deck. Those doors were probably the worst thing in regards to how the a/c worked and caused more problems than that, and in an effort to reduce horrid glare and heat sucking into the house, we tore the doors out last year and s tudded out the space and boarded it up. It was a first-stage effort in our slow re-do of the kitchen. It really cut down the heat and glare in the house when that was boarded up, the window unit in the kitchen was great then. It’s really dark in the house on the main level though, now. The other side of the house from the kitchen (all the main level) is the front door and the “living room” which for us is the “dining room” and a place for my scrapbooking stuff. This side of the house faces N-NW … it’s dark all morning to afternoon, and only a bit of Summer sunshine reaches the windows. Most of the rest of the year it’s fairly sunshineless, and just outdoor light seeps in the windows, it’s gray blah. The kitchen window had that unit in it Spring to early Autumn last year. Taking it out for the Winter season allowed more light to flow into the kitchen again, though nothing like before, when the double doors were there (thankfully for the summer!) This side of the house faces S-SE and is quite bright. We need better doors installed, then we can handle the light and hot air and have doors again. That will give more light to the main floor since the other thing we’ve done is open up the wall between the kitchen and “living room” allowing passage of people and light throughout the main level of the house.

It all goes to prove, to me, that horrible doors will be the detrimental-est thing to house comfort. These doors were normal french doors that are installed on many houses, no doubt, not high-end, just regular. The things, for us, never seemed to be so great, and there didn’t seem to be anything to fix about them. They were just the wrong thing to have on the SE side of a house with no shading, weather be it sun or rain or hail hit the doors brutally every time any of those weather aspects were present.

So the A/C is running in the house again, and it’s hot outside. The house is regulating better than it ever did before. It’s those doors.

In our kitchen we want to install a new window where the doors used to be, that’s where the sink will eventually be positioned. Where the window is now is the general region where the eventual new door will go, hopefully a sliding lovely door (Marvin, or some such brand.) We can’t do the work until we can afford to search for the door. But once we have that, it will be wonderful to install and grand good light can fill the space without adding to the heat in summer, or cold in winter. :) It’s in the future, something that my personality is accustomed to, future visions, waiting, dreaming.

Platinum Weird

On August 22 a group called “Platinum Weird” was supposed to release their first album in the USA (as I knew due to seeing them on VH1Classic “Hangin With Dave Stewart, which I DirecTivo’d on July 14, 2006.) Yesterday we were out and stopped at Best Buy to check it out and buy it most likely. There was something there, but not a full album. It was something entitled “Selections: Past & Present” and there was no price sticker on it, no sign-age to say a thing about it. I didn’t turn it over and look at the back because I barely had it in hand and my DH took it and said he was going to go pay for it right then. OK.

Platinum Wierd EP Cover

So then I went checking end caps to see what was there, nuthin’. DH called me and said he wanted to leave, so I asked him, “How much was the CD?” He said, “It was free.”

Huh?

It was. Totally, but you go through checkout and get a reciept, no money exchanged at all. It was considered a Promo of some sort, but there wasn’t a bit of sign-age in the store to indicate that, and who would know that it was a FREE Promo unless they picked it up and expected to pay for it since they were LOOKING something by that group, expecting a new album most likely, as was I. I hadn’t looked online for any info about the group one bit before hand, and only learned the “hyped up marketing story” afterwords, the story I heard on VH1 was not totally “truth” but mostly not much hype at all. It wasn’t that it was hype but that some parts of data seemed to be missing or not fully made obvious, like is that video they showed, is it from 1974, or is it a hype-connected one made recently, is the “voice” the girl from 1974 or someone recently contracted to portray the girl in 1974, voice or body or both. That part is a mystery, from what I can find out online.

There is a place online that interveiwed both people in the group, and it has less hype than anything else online:

http://blogcritics.org/archives/2006/08/10/065902.php

What’s on the CD is good. Two songs are the same, yet different. One is from the current group. The other is tagged “Original ’74 Recording” — the track is “Will You Be Around”. There is one more track on the CD, “Happiness”.

Platinum Wierd EP Back

The point here is, the group now is here — this time in space. There is a connection to a past group of something that did something, but didn’t use the name “Platinum Weird” but it was a name being “kicked around” by them (as was said by Mr. Stewart in that interview.) The music they have is now, they have stuff they say is from the past. Is it? Was it mostly written back then, and partially recorded? Is that what is on the disc I got, was that “Original ’74 Recording”, track 3., is that really from then, or is it something else, the hype thing?

Who wrote the music? What else do they have? Some people have the “album” already, or a cut of something “older” supposebly. The I-Tunes Store has had something, or did in July, at least. I don’t know really what it was, since I didn’t look then, and didn’t know to, and I don’t use I-Tunes anyhow (ick.) I do know it’s not the same as what is out on CD Promo right now. There is other stuff on different sites, like the Platinum Weird MySpace site, and other places no doubt. I would like to understand it, as in is some of this music actual recordings from 1974? If not, were these songs originally written around 1974 at least, some recorded but not all or none recorded, only modern mystery hype recordings?

A straightforward approach to this would make more sense, and be enough appeal to me to listen to what the music is. I like the idea of it without the “background story”. It stands just fine with in modern times with no ties to backtimes. In fact though, ties to 1974 are fine, just that to kick it off it would have made more sense to have a straight true story told of the history of the band, how it became, and then if they wanted to LATER for FUN make up movies and mystery hype, fine, but make sure it’s touted as fiction for fun.

In the end it’s just a marketing ploy, I wanted to get the music based on the very little I heard about the music on that VH1Classic Hangin With show from July.

DH liked it enough too, the music, when I played it last night in the van on the way home. He actually said “Ah, this is the sort that YOU could do” and he never connected to my ideas before, that my ideas for a band and how it would sound are so different yet not, because in effect it’s me and other people I’m talking about to create a band with, non know people, even I don’t know who they are, and my place in life hasn’t had me writing music, but I’ve had a lot of performances in my first 27 years of life. I could do things in so many genres, but facts are facts, who I am is a rich voice with great range and definite crafty skill of voice. And that is best suited to some form of Alternative Rock, hard with melodic harmonies, and mostly that melancholy edge which Platinum Weird so well uses, and it’s always been something that attracts me, the few that can do melancholy well. (Ah, The Cure)

coComment Integration

I have a coComment account, and have the FireFox extention for it, and it worked fine with my blog here when I had my former Theme in use. When I switched to the Hemmednoajax Theme yesterday I noticed coComment wasn’t working anymore on my blog.

So I’ve integrated it into my blog and it’s working again, and that is what you will see on the bottom of my comments forms. If you have a coComments account and are logged into it on the browser you are using, then you will be able to track conversations easily from my blog (titles are all verified!)

And if you don’t know what coComment is, just click on the “learn more” link on the coComments bar at the bottom of any of my posts that have a comments form (all or most of them do) and you can learn about it and sign up if you wish to.

It’s free. A way to track conversations from blogs, including your posts. It’s mostly helpful to be able to be able to have a record of where you’ve posted all around the blogsphere. You can keep an eye on certain posts (you can track a post without posting a comment, in fact) which is nice if you want to say something, but aren’t sure of it yet. You can watch the comments that come in and have the ability of easily getting back to the right post, via coComments where you watch Your Conversations.

A New Theme Installed

I’ve changed my WordPress Theme over to “Hemmed” and am working to make it how I want it. I will eventually, I hope, have a “picture of the day” sort of post on the top, as first post, and then a couple of full posts, then a few of the next posts with excerpts.

I have to figure out how to code all that within the template for the main index though. I tried using info on the documentation site for Word Press, but it didn’t work with this Theme, when I tried it. Not that it won’t work, it’s just a bit complex and I need to go over it a few time more and search the internet for more help in getting a couple of posts then re-querying to get the next few posts to display via a different way. I’m only trying that thus far, not a “special category” for the top, yet.

I’ll be cleaning up my Categories then soon, I hope, that means, for me, going through my site as a client and viewing posts and editing them to delete Categories I don’t want anymore, but assign new ones that I want to use, so as not to miss anything (any posts) and then safely delete all unwanted Categories from my install, without having any posts reverted to plain old “general” because of it. So it’s important that I go through ALL of them. Which I want to anyhow. I don’t have TOO many posts to make it that difficult.

I still have a ton of posts from my other site though, which I STILL don’t know what I’m going to do with. Phew.

You can find my latest posts listed at the bottom of each page, with any “links” that I might have to other places online. Pages, Monthly Archives, and Categories are on the sidebar, with a few of my old sidebar things re-assigned to the new theme sidebar, and also recent comments listed on the bottom bar, with a newer plugin get_recent_comments, coding to use that plugin built into this theme, but you have to “get the plugin” to have it show up down there on the blog (if you want to use “hemmednoajax, which is what this is, get it via Presentation in your admin section, you need the newest version of WP, btw, and there you can find lots of themes to just click on and have it take effect for you blog. If you like hemmed, then you should find the authors blog address inside the theme editing and look there for info on the plugins suggested.)

This theme does come setup for using the_excerpt on the front page, which I don’t want for ALL the posts, as I related in the beginning of this post. I don’t like the look for my site. So I’m continuing to struggle with the weirdo wp loop conditionals to get it right.

And that is that for now!

14 Years

Today my husband and I celebrate our 14th Wedding Anniversary.

We aren’t doing anything “special” … just a normal day, but having steaks at home for dinner, something we do sometimes, not terribly special, but not un-special either.

Well then, I have nothing much to say on here, nothing ‘for the web’ … I don’t get mushy in public, have no qualms about admitting THAT, but won’t go backwards and actually say mushy stuff.

Migraines, ugh

I had one of those bad migraines the last couple of days. The sort that goes away with Excedrin at first, then comes back and stays now matter how many hours or pills pass by (so after Thursday afternoon all through to mid-(3am)morning Friday taking Excedrin, I stopped taking anything.) It’s energy stealing, it’s what makes me give up and go to bed. Thank God that DH was here all week so that I had that ability yesterday and the day before. Today I woke up exausted, but not as much as the day before. So I got out of bed and came down, expecting to try to stay down as long as I could. I haven’t gone back to bed today, actually sort of thought of sitting a bit, but haven’t done much of that either. So it’s ended up being an alright day, but I’m fighting a switcheroo migraine on the right now, but it’s hovering, not killing me softly as of yet. In my words it’s a “Stay on my feet fightable one” right now. I have started back with the Excedrin, hoping for better results this time, like in, it goes away and leaves me alone for at least two days and nights full. I don’t have one every day, nor always one every month, but often I do have a few in a week or a couple of weeks separated in a month, but not necessarily, and sometimes it seems like I have a lot more, sometimes I do, but other times I go long, long stretches without one, but maybe not in the past year and a half. So I must say I know they are something that has probably become more problematic, and I really hope that in the next months I can get a better level with them. [A nice long paragraph that I don't feel like splitting up. :) ]

A Beginning

There has been something I’ve needed for several years now, but haven’t gotten due to so many factors, but it was something that scared me and I needed my DH to get rolling for me and finally I was able to attend to getting it done.

A dentist visit. I’ve had nightmare dentists since being in my teens, with a couple of decent ones only. None lasted very long. Long story short, we had a decent one after we were married a few years, right near our apartment. Then we moved out of state. A struggle with insurance and finding a new dentist ended us up with non-helpful ones and in contact with worse than nightmare ones. So we ended up staying home. I also later neglected myself more than I should have.

So now I finally had a visit with one that is good, caring, and into natural stuff, and mercury-free. This is something I wanted, but hadn’t researched deeply due to not having the ability to get to one for years. So it was quite an education I got once last Wednesday rolled around. (very scary too)

This office does a Bioscan for antioxident levels, and mine was way lower than it should be. Not a big surprise to me really, I’ve been an average eater to bad eater up and down over the years. Of late I’ve had issues that bother me and make me not eat as much, and to shun things I should eat, for things that are less good. I’ve always believed in supplemental vitamins and minerals and such, but haven’t regularly taken anything due to knowing I couldn’t afford one that I truly wanted to go with. I couldn’t pick and choose the right things in stores either. With the culmination of this visit, I today was able to have DH order a system for me, the right forumlation of things, to start with. It should give me a boost to get my number up, which means be a bit healthier, and supplement me in the things lacking in my diet. Get me where I need to be eventually so that I can get my amalgam fillings safely removed and other work done.

I will also need a detox for heavy metals (mercury toxicity) to some extent, and this is all a long process of many sorts of things that hopefully will get me with a better edge and abilility to function better, more energy, less or no allergies and migraines, etc.

I had a scan for mercury in my mouth and it was too high. They said EPA standards are for 10 max. in the environment. They said OSHA standards shut down a business if maxing at 25. My reading was 20 before chewing, and 23 after. Bad. I see two silver fillings that are large on the bottom left, and one small one on the top left. Ugh.

I and they both prefer a “0″ reading. Unfortunately the information out there is pro and con getting rid of mercury, and overwhelmingly though it is “avoid contact with it” and get it out of your teeth, out of your blood, organs, nervous system, thorugh detox, or chelation or some combination thereof.

So for me it starts with getting my antioxident levels up and eating better and having a full supplemental support. 1st step is caring better for me, eating better, and getting that first level of supplements going. I’ll be getting the “LifePak” from Pharmanex, and hope to step it up to “LifePak Nano” as soon as possible, when we can afford to.

I wasn’t raised to appreciate veggies at all. My mother MADE veggies for meals, but horrible ones, and the decent ones were horrible under her making anyhow.

I did learn to appreciate a few veggies once married, and since then have grown in that area, but overall it’s harder for one such as I, pretty particular about texture and taste being right, and so … meat and potatoes was the main way for a long time. Over the years I’ve gone more and more natural and in the last several cut down on carbs massively and finally totally quit potatoes in the last year. My creativity in the kitchen has dwindled with my kitchen not fully put together, and deleting potatoes from the circulous menu.

I have great ideas that are difficult to translate into reality, in other words.

I’ve had more allergies and on and off migraines the last year, and tiredness getting more and more, and it’s just difficult to want to cook some days. It’s not depression, just the ickyness of allergies, migraines and how things go bad from there alone, with low blood sugar kicking in atimes, blah.

Some info leads me to believe that adding my supplements to daily life, is going to improve some things for me, and allow me to get detoxed eventually and might have improvement from that as well. There is hope of toning down the allergies and migraines, if not completely getting rid of them. This is the angle from which to tackle it all though, to me, a naturalistic angle, cleaning oneself up from head to toes, inside and out, outside and in, toes to head.

After awhile I hope to find a pro to aide me with the detox end of things. That will come once I have things under way with my dentist and supplements and food.

I gave up Coca-Cola Classic last year. I’ve given up potatoes this past year. I gave up coffee, completely in the last couple of months. I started drinking a natural black cherry soda this past year, and now have decided to severely cut that consumption down. I drink green teas now. I am trying to drink ‘water’ and struggle with it, it makes me so very thirsty, as it has in the past whenever I ‘went to drinking water only’ and never could I sate my thirst, as Christ can with his spiritual water. It’s maddening, this water consumption. In any case, I drink spring water. I’m trying to be good, but I dont’ know how it will go, I love dark flavors, hence my past coffee and cola intensity periods of life. Water just doesn’t do it.

Alright, so it also means I’ve cut out chocolate, just ’cause it’s one of those things, flavors are married with others and that drives desires. Bye, bye chocolate.

All in all through the years I’ve been a label reader and buy accordingly. I hate “high fructose corn syrup” or any “corn syrup” in things, and I eliminated all those types of things, except for my Coca-Cola for so long. The black cherry stuff I get now is made with pure cane stuff, at least, a great step towards alright, compared with ANY mainstream soda. All in all, it gets down to the fact of is ANY soda something we should feed ourselves? Of course it’s not. But I have anyhow, and am trying hard not to drink much or any now, and for now I’m able to. The urge could come though to do different. That’s a struggle I’ve familiar with. I’m trying to hold my ground at one a day or less than that.

Getting better eating habits along with supplementation should get my antioxident levels up to satisfactory and that will aid my body in fighting and winning, which supports gums, which is something I’m in desperate need of doing naturally, from within, which will support my exterior habituals.

Yeah. :)

My Chair re-done

Aug 11 2006 My Chair re-done

Yesterday I wrote about my chair, and here it is above: It’s getting to look shabby modern, in my own words. I don’t mind that, it looks used and loved.

I washed every piece yesterday and set them to dry, and re-assembeled it all today. The middle core of the cushions is foam, 2-to-3 inches thick, and “about” 28″ w (wide) x 22″ d (deep); then a piece of fluffy, thick webbing stuff, most likely polyester-ish, overlaps an inch or two around the top and two sides of each piece of inner foam. This is stapled on with standard staples, making an edge similar to the picture of how the outer cover is made, the inner cushion resembles the look, only it’s all inside the main part of the cover, and the cover’s edge is all it’s own self.

It’s a nice chair again. It’s fluffy cushy feeling, nice to sit and read, or sew in.

In the Picture you see my new arrangement in the corner of my “dining room” opposite of the corner with holds the armoire full of my scrapbooking supplies. My chair corner has, from left to right:

Re-claimed cabinet (originally is was bought in the early 90′s new as a potato, etc. bin. It had doors with wire netting fronts. At some point I was sick of it and wanted to re-do the doors, took them off and never did anything with them. I then cleaned it up and oiled it with olive oil, and loved the look, and that’s what you see there, but back then I put mugs and coffee and such in it, then later tea as we started using more and more tea and had several varieties of it. Not too long ago I tired of that, and moved every thing out and just had my Sweet Potato vines in mason jars ontop, and then later took them off and put them on a table in the kitchen and used the cabinet for modem and router and phone stuff for a bit, temporarily that lasted longer than I wished. Yesterday I took that stuff out and hung it all on a wall, it’s great there now. I took my cabinet and moved it to the present spot and filled it up for ME!)

Inside I have on the bottom shelf two photo boxes that:

Box 1. have my old photos from my younger years that I collected over time, that need put into albums, scanned, scrapbooked, etc. as well as negatives and odd pics from other people.

Box 2.This one has all the Kodak Photo CD’s that I had made when developing photos in the 2000′s. I don’t use my film camera (Canon Rebel [slr]) any more really, and haven’t always gotten a CD with my developing either. Now I use my Canon Digital Rebel (slr). Next to that on the same shelf is where I put odd sides things that won’t fit into the boxes, as well as things I find that need to go in and await future time to do that.

Middle shelf: On the left I have some books, scrapbooking sorts, and on the right in the back you see my camera lense (Canon EF 73-300mm) which I use sometimes, so keep it handy. My camera a sit in front of it when I don’t have it “out”.

Top shelf: on the left is photo paper for what sits next to it on the right, my Epson Picture Mate Deluxe.

Top of the cabinet I have some of the gift bags I got for my birthday in July, they are very pretty and it’s just something to put there for now, as well you can see my Boyland’s “Black Cherry” The Natural Kind, soda on the left.

I do not have this thing there in the picture above, but it’s there now: My navy blue magazine holder from IKEA is on the right, with the gift bags moved over to the left, both fill the space from left to right completely with no hang overs. In that magazine holder I keep my scrapbooking magazines, of which I have three sorts right now:

  • Creative Keepsakes, I subscribe to this one, and have the June issue thru Sept thus far
  • Scrapbooks, Etc (Better Homes & Gardens) I buy in the store for now, have three issues thus far May/June, July, August/September.
  • Simple Scrapbooks “Special Issue” “Scrapbook Shortcuts with quizzes & questions”
  • In the corner behind my chair you can see some of my other photo boxes peeking out on the right. There are 8 boxes in all back there, spanning from 1992 through to current time. I do have them all organized in photo development envelopes according to when the pics were snapped.

Keeping my hard photos thus makes them very access-able for me (seeing as I’m not so very tall, and “out of sight means out of mind” for me.)

I’m happy with my new corner and hope to make it better by adding a lamp to the top of that cabinet (for mid-night reading’s) to have a nice light just for the chair, not have to have a big overhead light turned on. I have a violet throw on the chair now, which was taken by DH and given to youngest son one night last winter. I took it back today. :) It was for the chair long ago, and is back again.

I want to get a couple of pillows from IKEA for it, maybe a new throw as well.

In the future I can remake the chair with “raw” materials of foam and batting, stables and then also make a new cover easily, it’s just a piece of cotton with an open middle back to slide foamy pieces into the top and bottom, and then pieces to hook onto the chair at bottom and top. So I can use this version now until it’s toasted beyond what I can stand … then re-incarnate it with new “flesh”
