Ordering Leap Frog

[Update: Saturday, January 6, 2007 9:21 AM Eastern]

Guess what came to me via email at 5:51 AM? Subject: “Your LeapFrog order has been shipped”

Also, online the Order Status for my account on Leap Frog’s site shows “Complete” now.

I checked this stuff a few times after I posted the below yesterday. Anyhow, it’s a UPS delivery, sched. for arriving on Jan. 10th. There was an “Origin Scan” on the evening of Jan 3, and Billing Information Received on Jan 4 mid-morning, but the “Departure Scan” was listed as Jan 3 in the late evening from Ontario, CA.

As it usually goes, UPS won’t update the info until Monday at the earliest. At least I now know it’s supposed to be here before we leave, and I hoped it would get here sooner, but sooner or later but not too late is better than way too late.

[End Update]

I ordered something from Leap Frog’s site on Dec. 28th and haven’t received it yet, nor gotten a “it’s been shipped!” email from them.

On looking at my order on their site, I find the Order Status to be in a static state “In Process” … which has a sound of motion … but must not be so in my case. :(

I would have sent support an email about it earlier, but I gave them too much flexibility with time … I bided mine, expecting a package or an email from the company … and I have lost due to that. I realized to late (just today) that time is flying and we are expecting to go on a trip in just a week and I was sure the new Leap Pad item would be here prior to leaving by far and wide.

Therefore, today I sent an email inquiring about my order, and received an automated sort of reply, and in it these words: “Your question has been received. Our standard turnaround time is 48-72 hours.

Um, is that “anytime hours” or “business hours” ??????

I’m a tad upset about it all, I paid for ground shipping, figuring in this thinking: They didn’t say they wouldn’t ship it in a relatively decent amount of time. I figured it might not go out until this week, but that it would be ON IT’S WAY by before today … Friday, Jan. 5th :veryshocked:

Now it’s … going to be shipped, or has already been shipped but hasn’t been updated on my account on their site –nor have I gotten a shipping confirmation via email.

If it’s the first thing in the paragraph above, it’s trouble. It’s going to be shipped … when?!!! Too late to be of special interest for me. I really knew I’d have it for the trip. I sure did get a good deal, but maybe that good deal was too good to be real. Seems like that’s becoming the case.

Let’s compare this to another order I placed on that day. Hanna Andersson’s site … the big year end sale … I got that box yesterday.

Sure a big difference in products, but let’s just put it into these terms. The order placed, confirmation emails were received for the order and shipping respectively, and the product arrived, we knew when to expect it.

Leap Frog ordering was straightforward. They had no verbage about my product choice not being in stock … it seemed like it was something they’d be sending out as soon as the order got to the department which fullfills it for delivery. They confirmed the order via email, and in that email said: “Once your order has shipped, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.” This is a typical thing that comes from any e-company when you spend money for something. Nearly always what comes very soon thereafter in a separate email is information that your product will ship “at a certain future date” or “your product has been shipped“. Leap Frog began well, and then fell into some black hole, and I am in the dark and thinking that I won’t get that product before we leave, and then while we are gone it’ll sit on our porch. :(

So now I’m jittery stew about it. That doesn’t sound like an entrée I’d choose to eat, home or abroad.

New Years Day

Yesterday we watched football Bowl games on TV. We also went into the backyard and threw around my new football as a family. I also brought out about 6 firecracker thingies to light up. I did 2 separately, then later hubby doubled the remainder and lit them up, that’s twisting two sets together –by the fuse, and lighting for a double banging. [He did one double, then after that the last double.]

We hadn’t thrown a ball around as a family for a long time, since our other balls have been chewed up by the dog. This new football is being kept in the house and not allowed to be left anywhere the dog will have access to it. The children are much older now, compared to when we last did have a football. Our eldest, boy, 10, needs to work on things a lot, our middle, girl, 8 is a bit more natural and showed vast improvement with the little we did yesterday. Our youngest, boy, 6, is a natural but still very young, so not able to throw far and all that.

One thing hubby and I did was some drop kicks, and I was pleased to find I did great with that once I found the spot on my boots that I was wearing to actually kick with.

2007

Happy New Year! It rained all day yesterday, New Years Eve day, the last day of 2006. It was raining off and on, but everything stayed wet, wet, wet. Neighbors didn’t seem to mind, setting off fireworks from 10pm onward.

Hubby and I were really out-of-it. We didn’t do much of anything.

[Our secret is: last week we got the first season of the show "24" on DVD and watched a few of the episodes one night, and a few more another night, then a night or two of none watched, then ... Saturday night we started watching the next episodes, and it was intense and wonderful, hubby stayed awake and wanted to keep watching, it was a strange event, the sort that I am privy to often enough, sort of as if the brain is turned fully on and the right brain 100% locked into ... whatever it is, for hours and hours and hours. So the point is, we watched and watched and went through and saw the whole season. Sleep? That's for naps throughout the day. I've known that, but dear hubby had to go through it, and he did quite well. It was interesting, I have needed less sleep this past week or two, compared with earlier on in this pregnancy, but I have slept more than "when not pregnant" as before, now usually getting two or three or four hours of sleep, waking up for a few minutes or a couple of hours, falling asleep again, etc. This was an 'all nighter', but a "watching" one, it wasn't as exhausting as a younger persons "all nighter" generally is, or other peoples (like many who would have pulled one off this last night.) Anyhow, we had fun, really did. We'd not ever seen "24" at all before, but had heard about it and were interested, just biding our time, I guess.]

I took a few naps here and there, and lounged about. Hubby set the children up with computer games and stuff on the TV in the basement (to keep them out of our hair) and it just was a quiet day overall. Football was on later, of course. AMC channel was airing a few Clint Eastwood movies “Countdown with Clint” –I discovered at 3:15pm. Hubby had fallen asleep and I had awakened and was still just tired, but trying to either go to sleep or wake-up more. On the DirecTivo Guide I saw that “For a Few Dollars More” was on, so I decided to watch it, and was pleasantly surprised to see that it had just started the minute beforehand. We have several Clint Eastwood DVD’s, but that is one movie we do not have, so I took the opportunity to watch it, though I never like watching movies on AMC really, they USED to be commercial-free, you know. So then, yes, I am a Spaghetti Western “fan” :veryshocked:

Hubby woke up a couple of hours later, and after the movie ended –turned on more football, of course. We saw this and that and that and this, games in progress in different stages, mostly saw many of them in the last minutes of the game. Pro and College. Hubby is a sports fan. I’m really not, but can ‘get into it’ at times, enough for me, and him. Anyways, we just hung out and then all went to bed. I didn’t fall asleep right way, but hubby did. I was watching Law & Order, on whatever channel it was that was airing them all day yesterday, and that’s where I fell asleep, sometime near 11pm. I later awoke and saw the time ["display" with the DSS remote] and it was 12:06am, I missed the New Year rollover, again. I wasn’t planning to see it or not.

I thought it was funny that I wrote about New Years Eve the other day, and that soon thereafter my hubby pulled an All Nighter with me, the day before New Years Eve, not planned, just “happened to turn out that way” and we avoided another year change face-to-face. FWIW

The other day our youngest got sick, threw up, and then had the next progression in the system, how that often goes … so we weren’t going to go anywhere this weekend … it was a stay home weekend.

I see now that the sun is out, the sky is fairly blue, the concrete things (sidewalks, driveways) and blacktop roads are drying up. Weather forecast calls for spotty showers this morning, but it looks really nice right now, firecrackers later, for sure. :)
