DH has promised to take a few days off and get some things done that have been waiting … \ud83d\ude42 So the time is here. The other day he did take something he had, a rental vehicle for another reason, and use it to get the pile of junk out of the corner of our backyard. Something was in it, something alive, and it ran back and forth along the fence line, going behind the metal roofing panels we had right against the fence. Piece by piece that came off and the dog got involved as well. The thing went under the fence and back in again, it went up to the corner and then back down the fence line again, and eventually after a couple of very near misses, it didn’t come back. The dog watched for quite awhile to be sure he didn’t have anything new to play with. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
It wasn’t a mouse, wasn’t a rat. It was too big to be a mouse but looked like one sort of (as if an ID can be made from a mystery rodent scurrying out of fear, never sitting still in the open long enough, and me without my glasses on.) In any case there was no nest anywhere noticeable, FWIW. That all was the big pile of concern I had, and it’s finally gone. Hurrah!<\/p>\n
We have things to do inside now. We’d like to get the “basement” drywalled and straightened out for usage as a family room, as was it’s intent long ago. We’ll take down some of the remaining kitchen cabinets too, and move a few more things around. I have a new laptop now, so the desktop computer can be moved down to the “family room” without causing me to feel disconnected.<\/p>\n
Yesterday was the first of March. The weather was mild and wild. Mild temperatures and very, very breezy winds. I’ll take that as Lion Behavior! Not that I have any say in how the next couple of days will be, or the last few coming later this month. The trees around Atlanta and surrounding regions are in Spring bloom, many more to bloom, but the early ones in full bloom already. My Weeping Willow is vibrantly green, and the other tree I wrote about earlier is in full bloom. Pussy Willow’s in the front are starting to shuck their “hulls” and that fuzzy gray stuff is visible on most of the branches, it won’t be long until they are unveiled in full.<\/p>\n
We were at Costco yesterday and the trees planted around the building and parking lot are in full bloom, white and pink. Yellow Daffadils are popping up everywhere, I mean, everywhere they are planted they are in full bloom. My hosta are getting spiky topped, nearly about to start spitting out leaves. Peonies are still burgundy spiky tipped beauties-to-be poking from the earth. Every tree that lives is getting that Spring look, growth, bud ends getting bigger … Spring is in full swing here, and it’s been slowly coming for two months. I’m thrilled to see blooming plants, despite the very mild winter we’ve had. The question will be the Apple trees and the Yoshino Cherry trees, will they bloom nicely at all, too early or on time? Last year the Yoshino’s were not nice at all. The Apple trees weren’t very prolific in blooming (and they need some work done on them still, always something to do!)<\/p>\n
My hens are still producing well, since the end of December, actually, but seemingly moreso lately. Just a little quicker laying, or less time off, to put it another way, makes for more production.
