I turned off my phone, removed old sim, added new sim. Turned phone on … good to go with Google Fi App, activated and I could make calls pretty much right away.

Those other phones though, I could call, but they couldn’t call me.

I eventually found that the one was being blocked as spam. It was a starred contact, should have done that. I only knew this after using Google Messages instead of my usual Samsung Messages. Lots I like about both those programs but GM is too something for me. At any rate, I turned on Web Messaging and there I saw so many blocked calls for that number that shouldn’t have been.

I actually then had the web app ringing on my pc, but never my phone. Not good.

So this morning I tried clearing cache for this and that, turn it off then on again: the phone, settings in different apps … nothing would make a call come in.

So I said that’s it, and Factory Reset. Once basics were setup, not block of anything, I tried it again and hahahahaha, my phone was finally ringing!

Now I have to setup everything how I want and that is annoying. I just setup this phone new in August 2020. Yes, I have backups, but if the problem is reintroduced then I’ll have to start over and manually make every freaking change and download that I want. Ugh.

I turned on “Families” “Block Calls From Strangers” after that and though it still says “Hasn’t Synced Yet” (as it did all the time yesterday and this morning, and that notification of a problem DING every time, but thankfully not since the reset of my phone.) So the call came through just fine, yet again.

Your Family Settings: Hasn’t Synced Yet (Never will say that, maybe)

I don’t know exactly the mph of what or why but as long as it continues to work and eventually the contacts part of it will work out for everyone, hurray!

Factory Reset is not my favorite pastime so please, please, let me get what I want this time.

AT&T is who I left–we couldn’t afford to stay on that program with 2 new phones in the mix.
