At some point later Yahoo forced Geocities logins to Yahoo ID’s and my “smokygirl” was already taken by someone in Yahoo, so I was forced to “change it to something else not in use” and I was peeved, but managed to like “mtns” in the middle of it enough to input that. So SmokyGirl was then SmokyMtnsGirl.

I left the site alone and hardly worked on it after awhile, I can’t recall exactly when the last time it was I logged in and worked on it, I do know that I did have control of the SmokyMtnsGirl Yahoo ID a few years ago when I was using Trillian on another laptop that has since bit the dust. I have also run into my own Smoky Girl geocities page here and there while searching for things online. I have tried to find my site since my recent re-interest in my smokymntsgirl ID but I cannot find it, and cannot recall the block/# of my Yosemite residence, I think for sure it was under Trail, but not the number that comes later. It used to be find-able via a websearch fairly easily, and I’ve poured through pages and pages of search results looking, and have found not a stitch of anything from it.

It must be that Yahoo deleted my Geocities site at some point because it’s just not anywhere findable. Also Yahoo is shutting down Geocities sometime this year, a recent thing of theirs that I found out about because of my interest in finding my old site connected to my old Yahoo ID, and they have turned off the ability for anyone to create a new site via the Geocities free site builder, and I am not allowed into anything when I try and login, getting this message: “Sorry, new GeoCities accounts are no longer available.” In my Yahoo ID Account Info screen I have three things, my Yahoo ID name, my Yahoo ID Email address, and my GeoCities email address.

So there sits the information to taunt me about my old GeoCities site, not to have my site, but I have to look at the email address sitting there that I cannot get rid of.

I may have the site stuff archived somewhere … but where I don’t know, and God forbid it be on a floppy disc (I haven’t had a floppy drive in years …!) It’s not important, it’s just something of historical facts for me to have.

In any case I also looked at some waybackmachine pages of some of my other old sites, and it was weird seeing my blogs in Moveable Type … really weird.

The thing about my old GeoCities/Yahoo ID that is interesting to me is I have seen on it’s profile page that it’s been a member since July 1997, that’s way older than my usually used Yahoo ID, I suppose it’s using the info from GeoCities to create that date. I find it funny that I’m calling it an “it” FWIW .

I was trying to revive an old Yahoo ID of mine on Friday, and had no answer from Yahoo until this early morning (middle of the night, actually) and now have access to it again.
