I wanted a soldering iron for many years and never got one I wanted. My husband did get me one some years ago, but it was not what I wanted. It was a butane one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Needing to solder something on a board now, I pulled that out last week, and learned a lot about why I hated it so much. It couldn’t melt the dumb stuff without it climbing up the tool and cooling down because the iron ran out of power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Very dumb design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Non leaded solder has a high melt point, difficult to use compared to leaded solder. Kits sell non leaded solder with flux core. Most solder on the market is such as well, one has to find leaded on purpose it if they want it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore my use of the non-leaded stuff needs an electrical heat tool or else I’ll never learn how to use it well and that would be all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are possible other things I could solder to fix as well. I need to make it work. I waited all my life to get the skill and tools to work, when in the 1980’s I wanted to learn to fix my Simon game device battery plug. Never did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I ordered one last week, get it next day. Great! Nope. Also forgot to use the coupon for a couple bucks off. It didn’t ship and it was getting late the day it was supposed to come, so I cancelled it. Then ordered it again, On Saturday. Supposed to get it on Monday. So all weekend nothing, then this morning. Monday, it finally ships, and says it’ll be delivered TOMORROW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AUGH!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyhow, it has great reviews, but several horrible ones most recently. Who knows what is what anymore AI sucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have to use it and return it if it doesn’t work in the first 30 days. I think that will be ok, I’ll know if it’s useful right off, or if the tips really do not fit the end as many reviews said. Or if it craps out on me like other reviews said. Or if it works and is no problem like many many other reviews said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ll have to look for recommendations of what to get to replace it, whenever that is I want something better to aide me in this hobby of fixing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
