Lots of manufacturers seem to have their hands in the DVD pot of honey, and, although it’s still not really mainstream technology yet, those of you in search of the best audio and video quality around are probably seriously contemplating buying one of these players—if you haven’t already.

However, just to make things a bit more confusing for you, Toshiba is the first to announce a second generation of DVD players, and Sony has announced a new, lower-priced DVD player.”

LOL

That’s similar to our player, the Sony one. We paid $599 for it too, an outrageous price. Our first DVD we bought was “Zorro”, there wasn’t much choice on the DVD purchasing scene. We knew it was a good format though, so we got in early.

Our player is the DVP C650D, it’s a five carousel, and that’s the feature we wanted, mulitple disc capable. We have a newer one, a Pioneer, in the family room, which is similar, but much newer. Anhow, the link above is to a picture of our machine, the remote pic isn’t right though, it’s nearly right, but missing the 5 disc feature buttons in the middle, where there is space. Ours is numbered RMT-D112A.

So, we’ve had this player since sometime in 1998. I It’s been great. It still has good features. It’s still useful. It’s kind of aged, but it sure doesn’t look it, except for how big it is compared to our Pioneer 5-disc player. When things are new tech, they are big, they get better, and that usually mens they get smaller in some way.

Lighter, thinner, but better. Like monitors. Amazing stuff this all is.

In light of my last post about the Two Towers DVD and our DVD player, I did some searching on it and found this gem of an article: popularmechanics.com/technology/television/1997/11/All_DVD_to_Me/ “So, it’s been over six months since DVD players finally hit stores.
