A few new music and other things

Post Published:

I ordered a couple of things from B&N the other week, one thing arrived a few days ago, the other thing is supposed to arrive on Monday — 2 days from now I will have it, if all goes well.

First thing is a Cinderella DVD — not the story, the band, their Videos from the 80’s mostly. A few from “Night Songs”, more from “Long Cold Winter”, and then some from “Heartbrake Station”.

I know that not all people like videos and many Christians do not like bands that are not Christian and do not like “rock” at all, or not like “videos”, etc. I am a Christian and like many types and make no excuse or am proud or not of it all, I just like some things more than others and do not only listen to CCM types of music. I’ve written of this sort of thing the past month or two.

In any case, I do like all sorts of music and do love watching videos of music I do like, but not always. I do like Cinderella’s video though. I do like their music too, with Long Cold Winter one of my all-time favorites since it first came out.

The DVD was released in Jan 2005, and I like it lots. It’s a decent DVD, with the best of their videos and a little more content. I has 5.1, stereo, etc. for sound options. I do not have a 5.1 system set up right now, just a not even 2.1 on my TV, just a 3channel of right and left front and a center channel. My computer has a truer 2.1 with 2 speakers and a sub-woofer connected as a digital external system, as well as an internal/external sound card set-up, an audigy platnium one. I’ve not played the DVD on the computer as of yet, so I can not say how it sounds there, which is my best bet for really “hearing” it as I like to and can compare the sound to CD tracks of theirs.

Cinderella is a rock group, with metal edge and more blues southern rock metal as the year go by, to more bluesy than metal, IMO. I love it all. I do like “southern rock”, like The Black Crowes, for one example.

Secondly, the thing slated to arrive on Monday is a CD called “Waking Up the Dead” by Blissed, released in 2004. They have a new one coming out any time now. I only checked them out in the past couple of months since Stryper came out with a new CD and was out on Tour and we went and saw them. Blissed is a band that Robert Sweet, drummer of Stryper, is in … the drummer of Blissed as well, in other words. The genre is hard rock/metal and not for the folks that don’t like rock and metal. 😉 I am looking forward to listening to it in full. 🙂

I also got a few new (to me) CD’s from CD Warehouse last week. I look there to fill out my collections, things I didn’t get but wished I did “back then” as well as anything newer. Most of the stuff there is “used” but in very good condition, I’ve not had a problem with anything I’ve gotten there.

We also got a DVD collection from TV: CSI: Miami, second season. We started watching this show just last year, and haven’t seen earlier ones. I would have been happier to start with season one, but this is what was there at CD Warehouse. They did have season one of CSI:NY, but DH wanted the Miami one, he likes it better, he said. I do too, but do like the NY one as well. I also like the LV one, but not “quite” as much, but nearly.

Anyhow, we have gone on a few short CSI:Miami binges the last week. It’s nice to watch the shows with no commercials. We have DirectV DVR (DirecTivo) and I like watching things after recording them, so you can ‘zip’ through the commercials, but hands down the DVD’s of the seasons are better.

We saw in a Costco ad that they were to have CSI: seasons one through five, on a particular day last week, and that there was a $50 instant-off coupon for a week, starting that day. The store should have had them, but didn’t. They checked and would have them in later. In any case, the price was something over $200. I saw in some store one of the seaons available for something like 54 or 64 dollars. Just one season. The one we bought, CSI:Miami/season 2 was used, but pristine and $30-even. That alone is a steep price, IMHO, but better than some “new” prices. I haven’t gone over exactly what is out there available and how much street price new or used is, by the by.
