My phone arrived today, out of the box, then activated online, no data. Only phone calls and text.
What a headache.
Eventually I tried adding other APN’s. Didn’t work, not the ENHANCEDPHONE (which is what was in the box on the device as it came to me today) nor was it NXTGENPHONE.
Both of those just gave me the 5G symbol and a triangle with exclamation point. No internet connection.
That wasn’t going to fly.
What did I eventually do? What I’d done on my old Note5 trying to get data working last week (because I didn’t have a phone since sending my Duo 2 in for warranty exchange.)
Name: ATT 2
APN: phone
Then all the other same settings that are in the above APN’s, hahahaha! Data! 5G and data. Why? I have no clue, just know all the APN’s they say are meant for 5G capable or standalone or whatever just didn’t work. Just Name and APN name were all that were needed to change to make it work.
The weird thing to me is, 5G symbol doesn’t show any connectivity action, like on Samsung it does, and I really am not sure about on my Duo 2, which I miss so dearly.
I do want to have my Duo 2 again, and keep this phone since it’s now working as it should. I can have my Duo 2 for reading and watching and all sort of things at home, hotspot when out appropriately with both devices, or just go with the Pixel 7, like to a concert. Leaving my precious Duo 2 at home.
Of course I need to get a Duo 2 back from Microsoft. It’s taking a long time, I do understand that it is pretty bad right now, no stock but maybe some later this month. I’m waiting. Better having a backup phone anyway.
I really know that it is a matter of what can be done, but if they force a refund on me it had better be enough to make it justified and enable me to actually get a Duo 2 from someone on ebay or something with part of it.
I have bumpers and skins for it, which are useless without one. It’s like a special companion, does more for me than a basic phone, but isn’t something to tote everywhere.
I will keep my dumb old S3 Tab instead of getting another ever. I’ll keep my Switch Alpha old laptop without ever getting another just so I can have my Pixel 7 compromise with my Duo 2 special little thing. Aspect ratio of the Duo 2 is quite unique to pocket devices, it’s wonderful as a book reading thing and as an old tv or old movie watching thing. It’s great.
Pixel 7 has Android 13 , and is a plain google device. It seems quick, and will be wonderful as a lesser but fast thing. It only has 128gb and it is very narrow, but I find the bounciness of haptics is good, reminds me of how my old Sony Z3 Compact Tablet felt.
My 1st case is coming tomorrow from Amazon, then on Thurs. another from Vine, and Friday another from Vine. (Before on Vine I only saw i-phone cases, but now they have Pixel cases since I purchased one the other day. Huh.)
This is a phone that comes with a usb-c to usb-c cord but no charging block. Who has a usb-c input charging block lying around unused? NO ONE! Not me.
I had one with my Note20U, but that whole thing I gave to my son. I had to charge my Duo 2 via the usb-c cable on the back of my PC. That won’t cut it for the Pixel 7. At least it can wireless charge, works ok with the Samsung one I have on my desk. But I need a way to charge by my bed too.
