Sourdough Ramblings

So I did make Sourdough Soft Sandwich Bread the other day. It was slow in rising lately so I used twice as much starter and that helped, but overall it wasn’t rising over the edge of my bread pan many hours later. It started drying out, I moistened the towel with water and worked on wetting the top and all the edges so it’d be able to spring in the oven.

I gave it a slash a bit before oven time.

Ten minutes in the oven, holy cow it rose like the dickens and that was the right side, but the left side grew up and over to the left entirely, like a monster reaching.

Good bread, just not sandwich material entirely. I got a slice off of it a day later, and had an Egg in a Nest with it. That was good.

The first night we broke my rule and just had fresh bread with butter since it wasn’t going to be saved for sandwich use. And because it was so weird.

I want to figure this out.

Ugh.

I’m making Sourdough Dinner Rolls with Stew today.

Saturday I made Sourdough Pie Dough and 5″ Beef Pot Pies with it. I loved it. Only one person in my family didn’t love it, the pie dough was what was at issue. She didn’t particularly like it, just wanted plain pie dough.

Well sourdough is better for everyone and I need it desperately. That’s that.
