MLBN

I’m glad to see a decent baseball channel on TV finally. The MLB Network. (CH 213 DIRECTV )

My largest frustration with TV last baseball season was ESPN and their Baseball Tonight program. It was the one to watch, if you could get to it. TIVO’ing it was nigh impossible.

Right now, Hot Stove is a very interesting program on MLBN. It promises to be what I’m really looking for (instead of Baseball Tonight.) I’m not saying I won’t watch BT, I might still, if I can find it on when I’m able to watch.

Anyhow, it’s nice to have a sports channel that is all about baseball, baseball, baseball. Nothing else. Just baseball.

Hot Stove airs at 7pm, and right now they re-air that show the next morning, 4-times. That’s OK. It works for now. The other programs they air are nice, and they will have more, no doubt. Baseball season is coming, just weeks away until “Pitchers and Catchers report” is heard. Baseball is played as a game during the season, but it is just as much played out of season, with all the moving around, hopes are high, and then it’s time to “Play Ball” again. Reporting all of that, the in and out seasons, is what a baseball fan likes. No mixing with football or hockey or basketball news. Yeah!

I like Harold Robbins in commentary (might have the name wrong) I think he was the Royals’ 2nd Baseman. Costas is great on game color. The thing I most enjoy is the Historical spots.(I’m 65 this year) The Ken Burns series is tremendous. Maybe throw in a “Bull Durham” once in awhile MOVIE. Good Luck.
