The Black Crowes – July 20th

We went to see one of my favorite groups that came out with their first album in 1989. Back then I got the cassette and played the heart out of it first in my room and then later in my old Buick Century.

For a long time that’s all I had. I knew more of their music, but didn’t buy it. I don’t know why. Eventually, years later I got a CD copy of that album. I still didn’t buy any other album. I just had this weird block.

I’ve gotten to go to more concerts since Duran Duran in August 2012. Before that they were scant in my married life. So I found a listing that The Black Crowes would be playing close-ish by. I convinced my husband to go. I had the tickets ahead. So it was something I could anticipate. I had the tickets on my desk and they were a future reality until yesterday, I used them and it was a blast!

I tweeted during the opening band that I think they found a new fan. The London Souls. Picked up their CD in the booth. I also got a Black Crowes sweatshirt, t-shirt, and an CD album I didn’t have.

It was an awesome amphitheatre concert. The group in the middle isn’t my kind of group. One might think it, but they aren’t. I didn’t enjoy it, it was like OK but I was waiting and waiting and waiting forever for The Black Crowes.

Some people around me were there for that middle group, left after that. Some stayed but weren’t as excited about The Black Crowes. I was. I finally stood up and enjoyed the familiar loved music of the Crowes entirely.

The Black Crowes is a group I always wanted to see live, and boy are they good! They sound just like they should, just like they did in the beginning. Perfect! Psychedelic Southern Blues Rock. Hmmmmmm. Hmmmmmm. Hmmmmmm.
