Live TV is Dead

I came to a decision today. PS Vue, I had subscribed to it this year, not too long ago, over a month though. Found I used the interface only a few times, got someone else to use it one day, and a few times had my husband fiddle with it, but nobody wants it!

It’s not that it’s a terrible product, it’s not. I moved away from DirecTV a long time ago. I utilize Netflix, Vudu, Blu-ray, and Crunchyroll/VRV.

If I want HBO or something else similar, there are other options.

With the Vue package I had, there was HBO and Showtime and Max. I would have use their specific apps, if I’d thought about it. I just would prefer to have my own account and watch what I want and not have other junk to sift through on my Android TV or via my laptop or tablet.

Meaning, the separate accounts on PS Vue was good, but the idea wasn’t goodly enough implemented to make it work, keeping on spending $30+ a month? (actually $64 for me.) I love the Netflix idea, long subscriber to Netflix. I love my use of Vudu, mostly redeem UV codes from Blu-ray purchases, outright purchase a UV code sometimes, and very occasional buy via Vudu.

So then, what do I watch regularly? Nothing. I don’t like sports or news. I don’t have any serial shows that air that I watch week to week. Live TV is not for me. I’ll watch a steam of something if I need or want to.

Shows like Blacklist, I love that show, it’s on Netflix in 4k, I have season 3 to watch, hubby was going to watch it with me but I’d do best to just watch it myself, I’d watch it again with him later, piece by piece. I binge. That’s my information style too. If I want to learn something, give it to me whole.

So this is what I want anyhow, hubby to dilute DirecTV down to lesser, and be happy watching TV content on only one or two TV’s and the rest of watching is apps that stream content, but not LIVE tv.

All along I was missing shows as they air, only finding them on Netflix later, when they were done.

The few things I did watch were morbid affairs: The Event, 1 pathetic season. The 4400, cut short. Moonlight, 1 sad season, only the DVD having an extra ending episode made it alright.

Cop/Detective/FBI kind of shows, I grew tired of them going on and on, fell away one after the other while my hubby kept going.

Basically the only other thing I watched I had bought on Vudu, season 1 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., then season 2, but no more, not because I didn’t want to… but I would maybe be able to get them, instead of having PS Vue, nicer pricing $29.99 for Season 3, and $39.99 for Season 4 right now (not sure when pricing will change.)

Everything else is Netflix or Crunchyroll or VRV, or even Youtube, etc.

And then there’s that new Star Trek show on that pay only CBS thing. Options. Having options is awesome.
