We watched this movie, The Four Feathers, at home this past week. I really enjoyed it.
It’s not for the fainthearted. If you don’t like any kind of war movie, this isn’t for you. It takes you into the Sudan — 1875.
There is a “sex” scene, more a sensual thing, though not involving the main character. And showing nothing, it’s something easily understandable, between two of a different culture entirely. There is murder, there is bloodshed. You may find great interest in how the British warred, and how the locals responded.
It’s a look at other cultures, in another time, over 100 years ago. It’s about fear, cowardice, and redemption. An underlying theme is “An Englishman and a Christian” two separate people. Not what one generally would consider. It brings up a good point, being English and civilized does not make one a Christian. Being a savage warrior … can you be a Christian and stay a savage warrior? At any rate, it’s an interesting movie. We’ll be adding it to our DVD collection some day.
Favorite line, and the last line ‘God has put you in my way!”
