Xfinity, XB10, Wifi 7

Post Published:

I’ve been trying to figure out how in the H*** to get switched over to Wifi7 in our house.

We are using google wifi, yeah, the early version. Wifi 5.

Darn wifi mesh is expensive. Darned plain Wifi7 routers alone are pricey.

So with Xfinity redoing plans lately, seems they are sending out x10’s which are wifi 7 … so made that switch online yesterday, Got an initial screen with that info but it’s not available to see anywhere anymore. Waiting for the absolute notification of what we are getting and as of when … then I need to get my 2 kids pc’s wifi cards.

We’ll need another one or two expansion things, so this is going to end up expensive but much less than going all in on other plain wifi 7 mesh stuff.

Basically I wanted to always use my own equipment, but darn I’m not upgrading to wifi 6 stuff when 7 is what we need and will get cheaper eventually …. so this is our horrible only way to surf the web faster on more than my own ethernet connected pc’s in my office where the internet comes into the house.

Regardless, this will be cheaper than the old plan was, same speed, using our own equipment, $17 more. We weren’t on a contract for a couple or more years already. Price is high.

Cheaper than what same speed at Comcast Business was when we were there.

Anyway, our account is weird, it’s my husband’s but it’s mine, merged. Need to straighten it out more, then quit and resign up as the other to get that lovely $115 price I know is there for new users.

This am I was sitting on my office couch and there was the modem, suddenly orange light. AAAAAAAAUUUGGGG.

It came back to green within a couple minutes.

But google wifi sucks, sucks, sucks. I had 6 pucks offline only router puck online. Joy of joys.

I hope we can stop using them, then I can get them all on the table, alcohol them up, pack them up, and donate or sell them.
