We got called down to where my mother lives, in S. FL near the end of March. She’s in a nursing type area now, and we do not know why she declined to her present state, as far as I know. While there I got to see two of my sisters, I hadn’t seen them in quite awhile. It was nice, but not. KWIM?
When I know what’s up with my mother I’ll write something, but I really do not care to write the little I do know, it’s pathetic and pathetically little information.
We could only be away for two whole days, so it was a quick trip to S. FL. (We did get to see our good friends Dave and Kimarie and children, our times of IRL meeting are few and far between, and always so very short.) We had allergies at home before we left, and on the road it was better for us, then down in Florida other things bothered me, different sorts of allergies. So we got home on the last Friday of March and within a very sort time I had massive allergies, as did the rest of the family.
Checking allergy reports for the previous days it seems that the change occured while we were away, and Sweetgum was added to the main bothersome blooming allergen things for our area. I have no idea if that’s it, but something has been bothering us immensely more than before. We are still struggling. It’s been so bad it’s virus-like without being a virus. It got alot better at the end of a week, it was remarkably different, but that’s mostly probably because we had heavy rain that day. Usual moldyfeeling allergies come during/after rain storms, but even THAT is alright compared to what it was like the days before in this case. As time wore on after the rainy day the bothersome allergy stuff has ramped up again. It’s the children and me more than hubby, but we have clogged up sinuses and drippy noses, occassional sneezing, thick stuff dripping down throats, and chest congestion. This is a typical sort of allergy I used to get when I lived in S. FL every winter, in Jan or Feb, whenever you could see Mango Trees starting to bloom, those ugly yellow spiky things were visible proof that I felt bad and would get worse and worse, sometimes getting very ill as a result. I do not know if it was Mango Trees that caused my reaction, but it was always the case that if I felt very itchy inside and out and my chest started congesting I could look to the sky to see the huge Mango trees around and know for certain it was an allergy.
I had found a 10-blister-pack of Claratin in a kitchen cabinet this past Winter, and I did take one today finally, not wanting to get worse and worse like I did last week. It’s not that it’ll work right, for I have found that every time I’ve taken Claratin since the first Spring that I used it, it doesn’t work for me, or rather, makes me feel worse before to long the first day taking it. We shall see.
It’s no fun though, every morning having to wake up and cough cough cough it all out. It’s not like a COLD when the chest congests, it’s an allergy sort and just totally annoying and rattly and heavy, but not COLD-like.
So I must admit, I’d rather have an allergy time like this, than to have a major Cold/Flu. Amen.
It’ll just be nice if things ever quiet down to a normal allergy level for me with Spring turning to Summer, when it does. It’s been a royal rumble since late Autumn … 🙁
