An open letter to Douglas Stambler

Post Published:

Dear Mr. Stambler,

Please understand that I do not wish to get into debate with you. Despite my writing about Doug Wilson, our agenda’s are not the same.

I am a Christian, all my life I have been. What you have written on Vision 2020 and on your blogspot site is totally at odds with what I believe. And the fact that you took information from this web site and posted it elsewhere online without asking or informing me is unacceptable.

Your espoused beliefs boggle the mind, just reading the current page on your blogspot is enough to show how incredibly at odds they are with THE BIBLE. How you justify these things …

The heresy of “No Hell. Souls cease to exists” along with the “tribulation” that you say is at hand, is a concoction, definitely extra-biblical, and NOT in the Bible.

Please abstain from bothering the Reformed Community. Particularly your belief that there is “nothing to Reform in America” and the basic other things you’ve said about the USA and Christianity, Culture, indigenous peoples, “white people”, the Book of Mormon … and the many other thngs that you think you have authority to speak about, but very clearly do not have such authority.

You claim the name of Jesus Christ as your savior? Read the New Testament. Understand the “tribulation” as it is written, an event already fulfilled, an event that put to final end the sacrificial system of the Jews in the Temple in A.D. 70.

Feel free to visit here, but don’t take my stuff without asking, and only ask if I’ll say you may. But please understand, I will not give you permission to post my writings elsewhere. So don’t bother asking.

ADDENDUM: August 15, 2003

Douglas Stambler’s email “intended” to me, was sent to another person who commented on this thread. Kindly, that individual posted it here as well.

I am happy to write things and have thing attributed to me if they are posted elsewhere, but NOT without my express permission. When someone publishes something, they are copywrite protected, whether it’s clearly marked, or not marked at all. A mark saying I freely give of my things to the public domain would mean I’m giving my stuff away, take it! But I’m not doing that, I am saying that I want fair use of my stuff.

On a fluke I found this post on an email list archive. As well as guest comments. That’s a no no. Ask me first. I’ve seen Douglas Stamblers posts on other sites for quite awhile. He posted a comment here about Christ Church closing, and how evil Doug Wilson is, in June 2003, on a totally unrelated post. I excercised my right as owner of the site and deleted those comments.

Recently Douglas Stambler hit my site with a smaller message, two times in one night, same message. That’s when I went looking particularly at other sites to see what he’s posted in similar fashion lately. That’s how I stumbled on Vision 2020 and my very own post …etc. I composed the open letter after that. Posted it, took it down. I researched the web some more, and when I had read more than I cared to know about what D.S. has written, I re-posted the open letter.

The world may be “ignoring D. Stambler”. Amen, this is what I intended to do, but wanted to make amends for my stuff posted to Moscow Citizens. My critique of C/A stands as something I think is right to say. It’s a magazine, and that’s the point, it’s public. Well, if I’d posted my own words on Vision 2020, that’d be one thing, but I didn’t. I posted them here, my own personal words. I have the right to having my person notified, since the person taking doesn’t know my intent, it’s a personal site. Tell me you’d like to link. Tell me you’d like to copy and post elsewhere, and tell me why. Courtesy.

Of course, the only reason I’m this “upset” about it is because someone with a totally anti-Doug Wilson, anti-Christ Church agenda used my words as some kind of “proof” against Doug Wilson. Sorry bud, your “email” doesn’t fly.

My agenda is to KEEP Christ Church going, to Keep Wilson on the road. I’m just one person, my opinion about Credenda Agenda cover pictures is dust in the wind. But it’s my dust, and I care about who throws it, and who thinks what about it. I in no way wanted anyone to accidently think I support Douglas Stambler’s claims. Not one bit.
