Lightening and thunder. I say it backwards since that the way it really comes to us. We had lots of it last night. It’s thrilling to see forked splits across the sky, horizontal or vertical, or both. Many fingered splits are incredible. The sound is clapping to God’s glory. Why did God create this phenomena?…
Here I talked about this Iris:
Now that is a lovely bloom! It is neat to read how your garden/yard progresses. We only have the smaller variety of iris so far and probably won’t put in many more. Our yard is mostly shade. Your picture makes me a little wistful, but I’m learning to appreciate hostas more-except for the nasty slug problem!
Thanks Carolyn! That bloom is from a small iris. It’s so perfect though. I planted a new large one this Spring, but it’s still adjusting and I doubt it will bloom this year. I have no idea what either variety is named. I guess just knowing it was an Iris is all that mattered, so I promptly forgot their names.
As for Hosta and slugs, I sure know what you mean. I’ve found a few and melted them with salt so far this Spring, but they haven’t yet gotten into the Hosta, that usually comes later. Have you tried beer in a dish for the slugs? I intend to try to use that more effectively this season.
We have very little shade, we are trying to make more shade. Shade is nice for some things, like Hosta. I always admire the gardening photos from Northwestern gardens, Washington State in particular. So lush and green. Sunshine and color are really nice too. We’ve got the latter, as long as my flowers bloom.
I’m working on the main archives page. I have it linked below the dated archives on the Main Index of this weblog. Right now it’s surely not complete, just the rough draft of what it will be.
Oh so much fun ……….
Yes, it IS fun! It’s half the fun of blogging. Isn’t it? ๐
I haven’t written here much the last few weeks because I’ve been busy with other web site stuff elsewhere. Much of it is getting familiar with how MT works. It’s becoming much more comfortable to work with the templates and such. It’s really a great tool. I do have many things I’d love to write…
The Iris bloom opened the other day. It’s very beautiful. I took some photos of it, so when I get them back, and provided one is suitably nice enough, I’ll post it here.
We planted some Irises last Spring, and they’ve grown nicely, just never flowered. I’m excited now, finally, one is showing a flower, close to opening! None of the other Irises are even forming one. It’s a beautiful deep iris blue … I’ll try and get a picture of it, when it opens, here.
We have new sunflowers coming up. The leaves on a few have divided at least thrice, so they are in the process of putting down good roots. Several new sunflower plants have just sprouted as well. These are the same as the picture below. Black Oil Sunflowers, from the birdfeeder.
Isn’t Spring wonderful?
Yes it is!
Welcome to my new web site. This is a continuing weblog, from bouncingbrain.blogspot.com hyper thinking to Hyper Thinking at www.hyperthinking.us. I have all the old entries here, and am in the process of cateorizing them. I’ll have them available soon. They will continue to exist at blogspot as well. I’ve wanted to have a domain…
I was outside in the wonderful Spring sunshine today. I pulled weeds a lot. Also helped plant some trees. The trees were planted mostly by my husband. The sun was so intoxicating, made me rather want to just sit on the ground and soak it up, while wearing a wide-brimed hat, of course. We have…
I’ve not posted much here lately. I’ve been preoccupied with some things … and just not thinking of anything to write. It’s now Spring here where we live. Warm temperatures in the day, and above Freezing at night-time. The weeds are all growing. And “real” plants too. Trees are budding. Just the beginning of budding,…
