• Um, I mean, You know, Uh

“Um, I mean, You know, Uh” Um … these phrases and words have meaning, but I hear them far too frequently being used wrongly from people I know in real life as well as from people on TV and Radio shows, interviews, news, etc. I find it very frustrating to hear people who are otherwise…

My rating: 5 out of 5 I changed HOSTS recently. On my old HOST I had WP installed. I’ve installed WP numerous times there and on other sites of mine. So when I changed to Dreamhost recently I wanted to see how their “one-click” install of WP worked. It was simple and easy! Fill out…

Hi Tamara! I do have my other site’s blog under “.us” now too. So you still have two places to view me and say “Hi!” on. 🙂

I’m working out just what I’ll have on that site and on this site. I have a hosting plan that I have to be sure and not “go over bandwidth” and “disc space” with. 😀

  • Popery

The new Pope of the “Catholic Church” will surely be bringing about a lot of stirring the “christian” pot. So far, the very little I’ve seen about it all on Fox News TV, and I have not seen much at all … but what I’ve seen is embracing of this new Pope by more than…

  • “Natural Born American”

Fox News Channel was on this morning, TV, and I heard them talking about the “plot to assassinate Bush”. A photo of the guy was on the screen. Judge N. said something about the guy being a real American, as American as the next American (he really said “natural born american” can you believe that?!!)…

As far as I know he’s as American as Timothy McVeigh. He was born in Houston, Texas. His parents moved here from Jordan in the 1970s. I can believe that his father’s a dual citizen, as most Middle Eastern countries do not allow you to renounce citizenship if you’re born there even if you want to. But this is the first I’ve read that Ali is. Are you sure you’re not confusing the son and the father? The names are quite similar: Ahmed Omar Abu Ali (son) and Omar Abu Ali (father). Do you have a link or a cite?

    2. Marysue (Maisy) Avatar

Of course I don’t have a link or a cite. I “HEARD” about this on TV as they were “chatting” about the subject on FoxNews TV morning show.

I’m talking about “natural born American” as Judge N. said he was and the idea was that “he’s american as you and me”, which smacks me in the face as that’s not what a “natural born american” is … neither is Timothy McVeigh very good argument to bring into this, that’s an extreme situation.

I am ranting in the post above about what a “natural born american” is and how they act. They don’t toe the line about all American Policies. A true natural born american isn’t a political position. But it IS a position of claiming this country as one’s own and protecting it and building it up.

My views on this will differ greatly from other folks, of course. This is an opinion piece sparked by talk about Abu Ali — the son, as it’s the name I checked out to be sure about the spelling in any old mainstream news article that was floating around out there, it’s in my post how I found it. I am not confused. I’m offended at a TV comment.

Another thought I want to add: There are two types of Americans, cetegories you can put most if:

      1. Nationalist
      2. Patriot

I am a Patriot: Limited Government, I love this country, not the flag, not the government, but this country and I believe in regionalism, states rights, seccesion-rights, etc.

A Nationalist is one that seems to love their country, but their country is a different country than the one I say I love. A Patriot is old-school. A Nationalist is new-school. Nationalists support the government and the so-called war. These are the new flag wavers.

Most people are nationalists. Some people seem to be nationalists but are patriots at heart –they only need to learn the definition to actually start acting like a patriot instead of a nationalist.

I am not claiming the above to be “proper definitions” I am writing this down without referring to other documents. It’s the spirit of it all though.

So it goes to follow “Natural Born Americans” should not be nationalists, but should be “patriots”. My definition for patriot is only my personal version of it off the top of my head. It’s not a complete idea as written above.

Many immigrants adopt this country as their own and are better patriots than many natural born americans.

If one is a “natural born american” as defined as “one that is born in america” and they are taught to hate America; To destroy it; They hate Christians usually too. They are not Patriots. They aren’t even Nationalists.

They were “born here” sure, but that’s not the full thinking behind “natural born american” so that’s what I’m referring to in this whole thread.

  • You Can’t Take It With You (1938)

The title of this post is the Title of the 1938 film that won Best Picture Oscar. “You Can’t Take It With You”. This night just past I awoke in the wee hours of the morn and couldn’t get back to sleep. I had the TV on and was searching for something to watch. I…

Definitely a worthwhile movie as I somehow ended up awake while it was on and watching it as well. I would say that it is not necassary to view this at 2:30 in the morning it would be equally as enjoyable at an earlier hour, sez I as I looks for more coffee

    2. Marysue (Maisy) Avatar

Sure Frank, it’s not necessary at 2AM to view it then, but it was a delightful way to spend those odd unsleeping hours. 🙂 I do suppose it was partially that I’d not have sat down to watch it at 2PM, that this was the way I found it by trolling around the channels at 2AM when little else but sitcoms and infommercials are on … 😉 So it’s only that a grand recommendation from someone else would have prompted me to view it at “any old time at all”. That’s what this post is about. Recommendation to everyone to view this film! 🙂

    3. Carmon Avatar

That is one of the movies on my top ten list (on my website) of favorite movies! We do own it on DVD, and when it gets crazy around here, my husband laughs and says that the house in that movie was much quieter than ours.

I almost listed some movie recommendations during my blog party for that day, on TMC and AMC. It’s funny you ended up watching anyway!

Have you noticed how many raunchy newer movies are now being shown on AMC?

    4. Marysue (Maisy) Avatar

Carmon, I admit I haven’t really looked at your top ten list :0 of movies.

I used to LOVE AMC in the “old days” so yes, I have noticed how bad it is now. I’m surprised when I find a gem being showed. I am surprised still though to see movies that I wouldn’t consider “American Movie Classics” … they were made in my lifetime! 😉
