  • Allergies and house stuff

Goo … I feel miserable. My “normal” allergies have just been la, la, la all along this Spring, until about a week ago. They ramped up, but even moreso this week. So here I am, 36+3 (wks+days) pregnant and it’s hard enough to get the energy I need to do stuff … forget it now.…

I wanted to draw attention to the sidebar under “Navigation” –way down the list look for “My Pregnancy 2007” and click on it to get a list of posts from newest to eldest on this blog and my other blog that are related to my pregnancy –either completely or side-related, referencing it in some way.…

  • Gray May Spring Day

It’s a depressing day … I’ve been busy the past few days, and DH not here, and he won’t be home until tomorrow morning. That means he’s not here on the weekend, which is a big NO NO in my business book. So why is it a depressing day? It’s partially the above, but also…

  • May 2007

Another month begins. It’s been really hot too, like Summer hot. It’s definitely “MAY” — though the weather shouldn’t stay as hot as it’s been during the day, this early. How hot has it been? Close to 90 degrees, more or less. It’s not starting out very chilly either, like right now it’s 6:30am and…

  • April Freezes

From Friday night to Saturday morning it was supposed to be really cold, just below freezing. I don’t think that actually happened on our property … yes it was cold, but not quite to freezing, from how the grass and blooms and herbs and such look in our yard(s) as of Saturday afternoon … Now…

      Hi there!
      Thought you had stopped blogging…..

Surely it will warm up soon; and for good 🙂

      Hope your Thursday goes smoothly.

Thanks, it’s warmer now … and shouldn’t “freeze” again, I sure hope, until November! (I’m in GA too, you know. 🙂 ) Thanks for visiting my blog here.

As for “stopped bloggoing” nah, never have I. I did close ONE of my blogs for about a year, but always have had THIS one opened and have blogged on it, while sparse at times, I have blogged here more since I stopped the other blog for the time is wasn’t available … but it was always there, I was going to move posts from it to here and from here to it and never got around to it. It’s opened again, BTW.

  • Thunderstorms 2007

We just had our first Thunderstorm for 2007 Spring, maybe first in 2007 (but I can’t say for sure since we weren’t here every day this year up to now.) It wasn’t a long one, it did rain hard for a bit mid-point, and rained more softly before that and after that, and the “thunder”…

DH and I both awoke right before a new storm hit us in the middle of the night. The A/C wasn’t running, it was a bit stale in the bedroom … I hate it when it’s like that, so we were quite awake, wanting some fresher air. I got the A/C set lower and ah, relief, somewhat (Our bedroom has one “normal” spot for the bed and it has a “dead air space” around it, like where the head of the bed is, and it’s mostly worse in the “warmer” times of the year.)

So then it started to rain and it was nice to listen to, then the crashing came and everything electric in the house turned off, then on, then off, then on, and so on.

It went on and on, several times, and it was the worse version of “lost electricty service” I’ve ever seen at this house. It didn’t stay out very long, but did stay out for several minutes once, and a few minutes another time, and it’s no fun to have to start scrambling to get the ‘right’ things turned off to save them from damage.

Unfortunately the Desktop computer got messed up –meaning my Profile was corrupted. 🙁 I don’t work on that one much, but I do have a need for it to be a certain way, so it’s not so hard to get my special folders set up correctly for my desktop and documents, I keep them outside of my “profile” and use Tweak UI.

The Router also got messed up, lost it’s Configurations, and of course, that backup info was on the Desktop computer.

So I’ve been running around getting things back to working. Isn’t it fun to HAVE to be productive in the middle of the night?

It’s not “have to” but it is something I would have to get working sooner than later, seeing as we use Vonage and want all our systems up and running for DH’s work in the AM. I’m the IT person in the house, so middle of the night wakefulness in this case was useful.

The lightning and thunder from this storm were pretty nice, not too close, but boomy and crashy to a larger degree than the afternoon storm I blogged about earlier (above.)

I was able to finally get to accuweather to look at radar a bit ago and it was nice to see the storm coming South, and the timecode showed what was what … the very yellow cells in the storm were overhead right around 3am.

Our DirecTivo boxes didn’t get disconnected or turned off in advance, and when that happens you have to wait for the power to come on again safely, and then the boxes have to boot up, which is a forever operation, and one that generally, in our house, means we have to “reboot” manually with the button next to the card slot … or else functionality will hang on bootup and then if it does continue on eventually there are problems … so I learned long ago, if the box loses power, just turn it back on and then immediately reboot on purpose, don’t wait to see what will happen … it takes forever for the reboot from start to finish in the first place, let alone a messed up hanging one that will have to be “rebooted” later anyhow.

So when we got the TV back on, weather channel was fairly useless in showing us anything. That’s when I got onto the network stuff with the computers.

Well, I have to fool with the Desktop Computer sometime in the coming day … to get things working better, make a new profile (I hate it when it makes a “TEMP” profile … ugh. It’s a matter of icky ness, and it would be so nice to have a power thingie for that computer … laptops are never so flaky since they have a battery. FWIW.)

Wouldn’t you know, once I wrote that I was looking online a bit more and all of the sudden …. vwomp … the power suddenly went out, but there was no lighting that I could hear at all. That was around 4:45am that it went out.

It came back on at 8:01am.

A house at the wee dark time before the sun is up is really dark with no power, I found my Sansa player (with a lit candle for light) and listened to a couple of symphonies while laying on the couch, and rested that way, with dreamy sleep behind the music. 🙂

  • Migraine Junk Again

No fun. I have had a migraine since yesterday afternoon — this is something that keeps happening in this pregnancy (I had another the other week, maybe even one more, which I didn’t write about,) yet nothing as bad as when I was pregnant with my only-thus-far girl in 1998. Anyhow, this is a bothersome…

It was nice to hear a pregnancy update although I’m sorry the migraines are still bothering you. As far as the heartburn, my midwife years ago recommended apple cider vinegar water as a remedy. That or dill pickle juice. Works like a charm for me. 🙂 Although, I’m pretty tired of having that kind of “chaser” after *every* meal and am beyond ready to have “normal” stomach functions back again. 😉 We suspect that that part of my body just “shuts down” and I have very low stomach acids during pregnancy so my body just isn’t digesting and it needs a little help along. (I’ve noticed over the years that I don’t digest meat real well even when non-preg. and NT (Nourishing Traditions) helped confirm that – low stomach acid.)

Anyhow, that’s what works for me. It seems a little backwards to put vinegar on top of heartburn but when you have heartburn because your food isn’t going anywhere…then it makes perfect sense. 😉

      FWIW.

Will pray about those migraines…I can imagine the misery…

      (((hug)))

Thanks for the ideas Tamara. “heartburn heartburn” from pregnancy for me is usually caused by moreso acidic foods, things that often do cause more acid in stomaches. With me being an O Blood type, according to the EatRight4YourType guy, I would have a higher acid stomach/body acidity type body, and I do have such, and need to gentle things down –> and I find his info good, but with an overlying NT approach, of course.

Now as for my heartburn the day before the migraine it seems to maybe be connected to the event called “migraine” in me, since it was overwhelmingly bad, and very much like what happens in many migraine sufferers … the event starts without pain, and eventually the pain starts and the stomache shuts down.

For me then, it’s slosh slosh acidic and I do know that due to the few times I have “thrown up” during a migraine, and learned outside of pregnancy that with a migraine an antacid eases much of the suffering and has actually gotten me over the hump to getting my migraine gone … and the time I did chew and swallow a Tums or two and actually still throw up it was a GodSend to have eaten the Tums, it was not an acidic event … 🙂

During pregnancy the smooshed up stomach makes me more heartburn prone, and the need to eat small meals, more often eat small, does help.

The other thing is, drinking water causes an acidic stomach to produce more acid, and I cut water out mostly, years ago, and recently started to drink it again, and so … band that together with mid-late pregnancy, voila, acidicness in me.

I know that the Blood Type guy doesn’t put tomatoes as bad for O’s and one might think they are acidic, but they never have been traditionally so for me, and it seems that “vinegar” is acidic to me, though I love to eat green olives, good crunch pickles, etc. but I suffer when I eat them much.

So as for “Stomache problems” of “food not going anywhere” for me it’s always been mostly connected to “migraines” or a “virus” of some nature. I have generally digested my food fast. I do know that of course it’s different when I have a certain migraine stage occuring … and what aides me lately is a good cup of coffee, since I quit drinking it regularly it does help to have a strong cup … and I have none in the house, dependant on DH to go get me one. He wasn’t here during my headache, until yesterday afternoon, and when he got home I sent him after a coffee for me and I chugged it down and shortly afterwards the migraine resolved.

It’s one of the things that does work for some migrainers and they have to be “non regular drinkers” of coffee for it to work like that. I used to drink coffee every day, for years, and haven’t now and find it a joy to have a true usefulness of it, but I must say it doesn’t work so magically every time.

I was going to respond to this differently and have gone down some rabbit trails. So given that, I’ll close this out and try another comment session later. 🙂

  • Mis-placing Things

Have you ever mis-placed something, looked high and low for it, racked your brain for the last true time you saw the item, and had that going on with two individuals, you and someone else important (i.e. your spouse) …? Welcome to our most recent edition of that old story. We’d been traveling, the whole…

“If you don’t buy it we’ll never find the lost set.”

I think we both knew, once you uttered those words that we would, in fact, find the lost set. However, I don’t think that we thought we would find it as fast as we did. Question now is, can I convince the store to give us full credit for the purchase, or will they treat it as a trade in.

    2. Maisy Avatar

      Yeah, dude.

You then asked above: “Question now is, can I convince the store to give us full credit for the purchase, or will they treat it as a trade in.”

That’s been my internal query since we found the lost item. FWIW

      🙂
