• My Baby Boy – photo 6/17/06

I took this photo on Saturday, June 17, 2006. I was trying to get some photos to make Father’s Day cards, and was truly impressed by this snap. It’s on my Flickr page, which you can find via the Pages “Photos” link on the right of my main blog page, and there are other photos…

  • Cars (2006) – Pixar

We saw the movie “Cars” yesterday. It was a really good family movie, and without a doubt I know I would have seen it if I was an adult or even teen, without children of my own. It was a better movie than I had hoped for too, it really, really flowed well, and made…

  • Hard Floors

I’m still trying to get to this “back in order” for functionality thing since the end of May. One thing I have to give me the “counter” space I need is a table in the kitchen space. I have a smaller one that I want to swap the big one in the kitchen right now,…

My dream house would have a whole-house built-in vacuum system. Have you ever seen one of those? I saw one in a demo house once, and in the kitchen they had a flap in the baseboard with a button beside it that you kick, and the flap opens up and the vacuum starts sucking, and you just sweep your trash into it – no dustpans, no last little tiny line of dust that you can’t sweep up and have to get the dust buster for.

      *sigh*

Maybe someday we’ll really be able to build our own house.

Kelly, Yes I know about those, I used to really want a system installed, but now it doesn’t matter as much to me. I really DO like the Dirt Devil broom, and it’s alright to have to empty it every so often into the garbage too. With it every little little thing goes into the broom holding part, and that is sweet, no matter where in a room I am, to not have to sweep everything to one spot, as a whole house vacuum would need me to do, though I DO think they are worthy systems, indeed, just that I don’t have a way to get one now and really don’t mind the Dirt Devil. I mind MORE the “get it washed” stage of hard floors, and that is something else, so … 🙂 FWIW it works OK for me now.

  • Underworld: Evolution

Underworld: Evolution came out on DVD this past week. DH got it for me, I have the first movie, and wanted to see the sequel in the theatre, but it never worked out. I love collecting movies, so it’s kind of alright overall to never go to the theatre since I want to get the…

  • Mish Mosh of PMS and Allergies

Dh has been out for the last few days, getting home this weekend, not too soon at all. I mean, I wish he’d been here the last few days, hard days with a PMS mother needing a break! I about snapped at my worst this morning. I had put on “happy cream” this cycle due…

  • Hennie Talk

It’s been hot again lately, I mean even HOTTER than it should, to me, at this time of year. It’s been in the low 90’s, with tomorrow supposed to be nearer to mid-90’s … ugh. As for my hennies, just the little one, the Bantam Australorp, laid an egg yesterday. I still hope I can…

  • Eggs

These are the eggs that were laid yesterday and today. The back row, above in the carton, are from yesterday. This is the order from the left to right: Wyandotte, Hawklady, Wyandotte, “Bantam” Australorp. The Wyandottes eggs are a light brown, nearly creamy, but more brown than that. Hawklady’s egg is green-ish, moreso blue-green-green this…

  • Hennies Home

My dear ones came home late yesterday afternoon. Included in them was a confusion piece, a very young Australorp that “they” couldn’t tell between my giant grown up ones. Ah, well, I am the one who loves them so and I wasn’t there to collect them. That’s how it goes with DH, he isn’t “as…

  • Church Stuff

I haven’t said a word about this online at all … but here goes what little I can get out. At our church that we are members of, something happened a couple of years ago which really bothered me at first, and then as time went on the situation got worse, and it became what…

Wow, I’m so sorry about your church situation. Church troubles are second only to marriage troubles, if you ask me. I do hope the Free Church works out for y’all and you’re able to join there. It’s very difficult being in a church where you just don’t fit in on that many levels. May the Lord sustain you all and give you wisdom and grace during this time.

      Hugs.

Thanks. I know, though, that we won’t be joining the Free Church due to at least one sticky point, how communion is served is more than I can do, the common cup is not something my squeem-ish sensitive self can do, and DH agrees. They use a Common Cup for the wine. They only have communion once a quarter right now, so it’s not an issue for attending as visitors. The pastor there is glad to have us as we are, knowing that we are likely to move on, and glad to help us in any way to transition and fellowship with more than one body of believers, as we are having to do anyhow right now. We’ll be visiting some other churches here and there, and know it’s not that we’ll find a perfect church, but we are now only looking for bare minimums in preaching, music, and sacraments, that they are Presbyterian and the usual minimum is all we are looking for. 🙂 FWIW It is my desire that whatever happens though, that we’ll be friends of the Free Church congregation and be able to pop in often enough to worship with them.

Would they let you dip your bread in the wine? Many common cup traditions allow that, including ours. We do that if we’re allergyish or something that wouldn’t keep us home from church but would be icky to other people if we drank from the cup – but then we have communion every week. I don’t know if that would help you or not, but I thought I’d mention it.

Still praying for you, though. It’s amazing how hard it is to find a decent church when you’re not a decisionalist/semi-Arminian, let alone when you have standards regarding the Word and Sacraments!

  • The Japs are here!

I saw the first Japanese Beetle of the season, today, on a tiny stand of weeds in the backyard. I knew they’d be coming, and was hoping they wouldn’t show up early, as some things have done, due to the very mild winter we had 2005/2006. Maybe they are a tad early, since I know…
