• Spring!

Spring is in full swing. I have Bluebirds in my backyard. They have four new babies, just hatched a few days ago. This is their first clutch of the season. They were fiddling around with their box since February, but held off on finalizing the nest and laying eggs until May. Interesting, since it was…

  • Reproducing Trees

I’m growing Maple trees from seed, seed that our October Glory dropped this Spring. Three of them I sprouted myself, and there are four others in various older stages of development that I found around the tree. It’s fun to grow stuff, and particularly something that COULD get really big. It’s really neat, God created…

  • Spring Weather

It’s been muggy and hot lately. Yesterday afternoon it actually got a bit cooler, and the humidity wasn’t as bad. Today, it so much better, and breezy and sunny and blue skies with a few clouds. It’s a nice Spring day. Humidity and me don’t get along. Stuffy nose, frizzy hair, melted energy … add…

  • Lightening Indeed

Lightening caused my website to be down all this past week. Interesting in light of the last post I wrote. One curse of lightening is that phone-types of lines can be taken out. That means servers could then be unable to connect to the internet. That’s sort of what happened on Monday. It’s nice to…

  • Lightening

Lightening and thunder. I say it backwards since that the way it really comes to us. We had lots of it last night. It’s thrilling to see forked splits across the sky, horizontal or vertical, or both. Many fingered splits are incredible. The sound is clapping to God’s glory. Why did God create this phenomena?…

  • The Iris Photo

Here I talked about this Iris:

Now that is a lovely bloom! It is neat to read how your garden/yard progresses. We only have the smaller variety of iris so far and probably won’t put in many more. Our yard is mostly shade. Your picture makes me a little wistful, but I’m learning to appreciate hostas more-except for the nasty slug problem!

Thanks Carolyn! That bloom is from a small iris. It’s so perfect though. I planted a new large one this Spring, but it’s still adjusting and I doubt it will bloom this year. I have no idea what either variety is named. I guess just knowing it was an Iris is all that mattered, so I promptly forgot their names.

As for Hosta and slugs, I sure know what you mean. I’ve found a few and melted them with salt so far this Spring, but they haven’t yet gotten into the Hosta, that usually comes later. Have you tried beer in a dish for the slugs? I intend to try to use that more effectively this season.

We have very little shade, we are trying to make more shade. Shade is nice for some things, like Hosta. I always admire the gardening photos from Northwestern gardens, Washington State in particular. So lush and green. Sunshine and color are really nice too. We’ve got the latter, as long as my flowers bloom.

  • Working on the archives

I’m working on the main archives page. I have it linked below the dated archives on the Main Index of this weblog. Right now it’s surely not complete, just the rough draft of what it will be.

      Oh so much fun ……….

Yes, it IS fun! It’s half the fun of blogging. Isn’t it? 🙂

  • Busy, not here though

I haven’t written here much the last few weeks because I’ve been busy with other web site stuff elsewhere. Much of it is getting familiar with how MT works. It’s becoming much more comfortable to work with the templates and such. It’s really a great tool. I do have many things I’d love to write…

  • The Iris

The Iris bloom opened the other day. It’s very beautiful. I took some photos of it, so when I get them back, and provided one is suitably nice enough, I’ll post it here.

  • Irises

We planted some Irises last Spring, and they’ve grown nicely, just never flowered. I’m excited now, finally, one is showing a flower, close to opening! None of the other Irises are even forming one. It’s a beautiful deep iris blue … I’ll try and get a picture of it, when it opens, here.
